For those of you who do not know Jane Friedman or follow her blog, you are missing out on some amazing information in the transition from paper to “e” in the writing world. She spoke at the Authors of the Flathead – Flathead River Writers Conference in 2011 and energized everyone. Since that time a number of attendees have published e-books, some of them reaching #1 status on Amazon Kindle. See our website for information and news about the conference October 6 and 7, 2012: www.authorsoftheflathead.org
Conference information will be updated at the AOF website. Attendance is limited at 100 and the past two years were sell-outs. I’ll post details here in the near future, too. Brochures are soon ready for distribution. We have a great list of speakers including: two New York agents, a lawyer, a successful male author who writes as a woman, number one Kindle author, marketing specialist and Mark Coker of Smashwords. The emphasis is on transitions in the publishing world: The Changing Market.
Re: Jane Friedman: http://janefriedman.com/2011/12/16/12-must-read-articles-from-2011/ I highly recommend Jane. She is a great speaker and a wizard in today’s market.
There is a webinar tomorrow March 29th that you might be interested in. I have registered along with a number of writer friends. http://selfpub.me/bookreviews101 This is a detailed review of how to promote yourself and your writing, including obtaining more reviews and improved visibility for your work.
A huge addition to writing and progress for me has been utilizing the latest edition of DragonNaturallySpeaking 11.5. I had DNS 9.0 and found it okay but tedious but this newest version of voice recognition software records your dictation to accurately typed text. If you are not the best typist, with minimal effort and a little training, this is an awesome addition to increasing your daily manuscript progress. I purchased mine from Amazon.
